WHAT IS VENUS FREEZE?

Venus Freeze is a nonsurgical skin-tightening treatment that combines radiofrequency energy and electromagnetic pulses to boost collagen and elastin. The treatment can be performed on the face, neck, and body to reduce wrinkles and firm sagging skin.

Despite its name, the Venus Freeze device actually uses heat. Radiofrequency energy is delivered deep into the skin in the form of heat, which contracts existing collagen and elastin fibers (the proteins that give skin structure and elasticity) and triggers a healing response that promotes the production of more. This firms and tightens the skin over time as new collagen and elastin forms. 

Doctors recommend a series of six to eight Venus Freeze treatments for the face and 8–10 for the body, spaced one week apart.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A VENUS FREEZE TREATMENT?

Your provider will ask you to arrive with clean skin (no makeup or moisturizer) and to remove any jewelry near your target area. To prep, he or she will apply a gel—similar to what’s used during an ultrasound—to create a barrier between your skin and the device.

During the treatment, your provider will run the handheld Venus Freeze device repeatedly over your skin, gradually increasing the heat level. The treatment should last 15–30 minutes, depending on the area treated. (Larger areas of the body may take longer.) It shouldn’t hurt; many  clients even compare it to a hot-stone massage. If you feel any discomfort from the heat, your provider can dial it back. The Venus Freeze should never feel too hot. 

Afterward, your skin will be a little pink, but you can return immediately to your daily activities without pain, discomfort, or restriction.

HOW SOON WILL YOU SEE VENUS FREEZE RESULTS?

Your skin may tighten a little bit right away, but noticeable change comes as your body produces more collagen and elastin. After your final session in the series, you should expect to see improved results for up to two years, as your skin cells continue to turn over.

WHAT ARE THE ALTERNATIVES TO VENUS FREEZE?

Many providers who offer Venus Freeze treatments also offer Venus Legacy treatments. Venus Legacy uses radiofrequency energy and electromagnetic pulses as well, but it combines them with suction to reach deeper through your tissue to the fat layer. Those looking to reduce fat, including cellulite, in addition to tightening skin should consider Venus Legacy. Conversely, if you want to tighten skin without losing volume, as you would in the face, Venus Freeze may be a better treatment option.
